Many readers have already noticed that Arctic sells the popular (because cheap) P12 PWM PST (and not only this) in new revisions. In the meantime, the fan we tested today has reached revision 4 and that alone is reason enough to draw a real comparison. For this purpose, we measured both revision 1 and revision 4 again under the same conditions (humidity, air pressure, temperature). And yes, a lot has changed and Arctic has also actively addressed humming. I can already spoil that much.
From the outside, there is hardly any difference between the revisions, so you have to look with a magnifying glass. Both the front and the back are visually very similar. The new revision was a whole 2 grams heavier, but that’s peanuts and it’s even within the possible tolerances of the injection molding and the bearings. Still, in terms of behavior, they are two very different fans and it’s more than convenient that our interactive database already works in such a way that you can embed and use these elements perfectly.
So you can see on the next page (page 2) the 1:1 comparison of both revisions with a list of the differences and a comparison of the measurement results. If you want to go into more detail, you’ll find the complete measurement log of the individual fans on pages 3 and 4, and then the summary and conclusion on page 5. The advantage of automation is obvious, because the results update automatically if necessary, even retrospectively, and there is only one large data set for everything. The chart graphics are largely generated automatically in real time, which saves storage space as well as loading times and also simplifies error corrections.
For all detail lovers, we now have the datasheet again, but Arctic has not changed it yet. But we also compare these values with the real data in the detailed views, so the manufacturer’s specifications are of course of interest. And not every company acts as transparently as Arctic, which should also be mentioned.

Enough of all the theory, let’s now go into detail with the new, interactive 1:1 comparison. because it’s worth it! For methods and equipment click on the link below:
