AMD Radeon Pro W6800 32 GB Review – Does the new workstation graphics card beat the NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000?

Blender

I use version 2.93 and the implementations for OpenCL (Radeon Pro) as well as CUDA and OptiX (NVIDIA). Radeon Pro Render could not be made to work despite many attempts for this current version. Unfortunately the installation failed. First of all I try the igoBOT and deliberately leave out all things like material and textures, so that you can better judge the quality of the denoiser.

The result is quite a surprise when comparing both Radeon cards. Denoising is similarly pixelated with OptiX and OpenCL if you look very closely, only CUDA or the CPU look really clean. Nevertheless, the Radeon Pro W6800 even wins here against the Quadro RTX 5000 with OptiX. However, the Quadro RTX 6000 is still faster than the rest even with CUDA.

The second scene is not only more colorful, but also much more complex. However, the Radeon Pro W6800 can also hold its own against the Quadro RTX 5000 with OptiX here. The image quality is also very similar. CUDA takes a bit longer, but subjectively looks a tad better. The old Radeon Pro W5700 is once again a total failure, for whatever reason.

Luxrender

In the OpenCL-based Luxmark, the Radeon Pro W6800 dominates again, because there is no CUDA advantage for the Quadro RTX anymore
