XFX RX 6800 XT Merc 319 16 GB Review – Heavyweight and ultra silent

Summary and conclusion

Apart from the already made evaluation of the performance, a very positive impression of the technical implementation and the chosen cooling solution also remains with this board partner card. An above average well equipped and designed circuit board with additional phases at the voltage transformers is an additional positive aspect of the evaluation. The load peaks in the power consumption are generally a much smaller problem with the Radeons and shouldn’t present even simpler power supplies with unsolvable problems. Add to that the personable LC filter in the entryway, which can’t be praised enough. However, this is a specification from AMD and XFX has adopted this.

The cooling performance and the associated noise development is exceptionally good, but the motherboard’s weight of almost 1.8 kilos is certainly heavy on the stomach. An included graphics card holder or stand could certainly have provided some soul balm here. The fact that the coils then become somewhat audible under load is purely a question of physics and the effort to find other solutions within reasonable limits. That will be quite difficult and above all also really expensive. What has been built here is already from the upper shelf and in the end also acceptable in the overall acoustic picture.

The MSRP of $800 is certainly still reasonable, especially considering the overall package. However, the availability should rather not be due to XFX, TSMC has probably simply taken over here. Especially since one hears that various things are also in short supply, which are otherwise needed for chip production. A causal chain with lots of unknowns. I can only wish everyone good F5 skills when the first batch arrives here in Germany next week. There probably won’t be many cards for now, but at least some. So it is best to practice a bit, then it will work with the shopping cart.

The card was provided to igorsLAB by XFX for testing under NDA with the condition not to fall below the specified release date until the AMD NDA falls. There was no possible influence of the manufacturer on the test and the results, nor was there any obligation to publish them.
