Let’s take a closer look at the faceless controller. Here, what should not be seen has been lasered away. Either it was a copycat product without a license or there were other reasons to remove the imprint in a very sustainable way. The RM1135 is a controller that can certainly handle TLC and QLC, but it is actually absolutely low-end and certainly nothing for an SSD with a whopping 2 TB. If you look closely at the original with even higher resolution, you can still see an R and an X, which indicates RayMX. Then it’s an RM1135 and it can do SATA3.3 but the original from SanDisk uses a much better Marvell controller.
If you buy cheap, you buy twice. Once for the trash can (as here) and then again in usable for themselves. And it almost goes without saying that the “top seller” refuses support here. Too much German air in the case… The fact is, however, that one can only issue an explicit purchase warning for such products. You get what you paid for… Namely, almost nothing. But stop! I got an answer. Surpise, surprise…
