Coinciding with AMD, Lenovo is also announcing the next generation ThinkStation P620, which remains the only Tier-1 professional workstation on the market powered by the latest AMD Ryzen™ Threadripper™ PRO processor. The ThinkStation P620 features the next-generation AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5000WX-Series processor, which is said to offer up to a 25%1 performance increase over the previous generation (see slides on page 1), building on previous performance in a single-socket platform.
In addition, the tower workstation is also available with a new 24-core CPU option, which should provide professional users with greater expansion and configuration options. As modern workflows become more complex and hybrid work environments need to be supported, users also demand flexibility and extreme performance from a workstation platform. Creative professionals, architects, engineers and designers are said to be able to complete more tasks in less time with the P620, enabling them to render shots faster, for example, and run 3D visualizations and simulations seamlessly in real time.
As the most versatile workstation on the market, the ThinkStation P620 offers the ability to scale performance and increase user productivity while running a variety of applications for multithreaded workflows. This includes support for up to two NVIDIA RTX A6000s, up to 1 TB of RAM, and a whopping 20 TB of storage.
The latest version of the P620 also features:
● PCIe Gen 4 for faster memory, graphics and expansion card speeds
● Twice as much directly accessible L3 cache per core compared to the previous CPU generation reduced latencies
● Higher clock speeds of up to 4.5 GHz
● Processor with up to 64 cores / 128 threads
● 10 GB integrated Ethernet
● Support for Windows 11
Finally, I have the complete data sheet of the Dell ThinkStation P620 as a PDF for you. I will spare you more marketing now, because you would have to test this workstation yourself first to be able to judge it definitively.
