AutoCAD 2023 with the customized Cadalyst benchmark suite
The CPU order has changed every now and then over the years. AutoCAD has never really been an AMD domain, but the Ryzen 5000 was able to catch up with Comet Lake S for the first time at the time and even take a bit of a lead. It was then even enough for Rocket Lake. After that, Alder Lake came and could really annoy AMD’s Ryzens. Unfortunately, AutoCAD is extremely CPU-intensive and there is not much to parallelize in the normal workspace. It’s often what a few cores are capable of that counts.
The GeForce RTX 4090 is almost always limited by the CPU in 2D and 3D, even in Ultra HD, although it looks a bit better with the newer CPUs from AMD and Intel.
Let’s now take a look at the individual results, where we can see where AMD’s new Ryzen is a bit weaker and Intel can show off. The bottom line is that all benchmarks except for the pure CPU performance clearly go back to Intel, which is how fair we have to be in the end. The only thing is that this area is hardly relevant for everyday use with CPUs that are so close together. But what is already noticeable: Intel’s 13th generation usually performs better than the 14th generation! We will see later that the latest AutoCAD version will not remain an exception.
