Summary and conclusion
We maintain, it does not matter in such comparisons whether the best available hardware is used in all areas. Operationalisation is the key to achieving comparable results under the same conditions. In my case, I don’t need a “Logitech Pro X” mouse. Why? Because I’m not aiming for a mouse comparison, I’m comparing graphics cards. Especially in terms of latency lowering gimmicks from the houses of NVIDIA and AMD!
When testing, it is important to introduce as few variables into the game as possible. If you test GPUs, the rest of the setup stays as it is. If you test CPUs, then it gets more difficult when you compare Intel vs. AMD. Because here also the mainboard must be exchanged! That’s two factors… In the last article on system latencies, the setup was always the same except for the GPU. Other variables were the software / driver gimmicks. My goal was not to find the best peripheral that would provide the lowest sum latency. No, it was about NVIDIA Reflex vs Radeon Boost or ZERO vs AMD Anti-Lag. So all that remains for today is the conclusion about the NVIDIA LDAT in relation to the USB ports to be used.
Hmm, now we have an interesting insight. Which one? It makes no difference where LDAT hangs! On the test system or on the second PC, it is simply all within the range of the measurement tolerance. As you would expect! USB 3.x or USB 2.0? What is the matter?
One more thing comes to mind about latency. Yes, humans themselves probably have the greatest latency. But the miracle of addition makes all the difference in the end. Even if some don’t want to admit it. Simple example: Assuming a standard PC has a sum latency (click to pixel) of 100 ms + 300 ms due to humans (on average), this results in 400 ms. If I optimize this PC, and get to the 37 ms measured here, then my new sum latency is 337 ms. It’s that simple! This is not about religion, which you cannot understand, but must believe. No, it’s simple science + math. Good, and some more biology.
Have fun on the forum then… TTYL
