Summary
The MSI Summit MS321UP has an extensive configuration in terms of ports and included equipment. The OSD is packed with pre-sets (e.g. sRGB, Calibration Mode, Black/White etc.), furthermore it offers the possibility to store up to 3 calibrations (via hardware calibration) on the monitor. Other useful gimmicks such as overlays, a KVM switch and various picture-in-picture modes are a useful addition for content creators.
MSI’s free software enables a simplified OSD operation (software replaces clicking on the screen), and the fact that you can also create macros (as shortcuts) for certain functions rounds off the MSI Summit package profitably in the end. The test made it clear that the specifications on paper are “almost all” correct. It doesn’t manage the 4 ms response time, but I can forgive the monitor for that because it’s not a gaming machine. MSI delivers the essentials with the Summit MS321UP: a very good factory calibration that keeps its promise.
The only drawback is the somewhat weak AdobeRGB color space coverage. MSI could have done better, as the MSI Optix MPG321UR-QD gaming monitor proves. The small addition QD (Quantum Dots) makes the difference here. I might take a look at the MPG321UP-QD as a possible option for AdobeRGB users. Nevertheless, the MS321UP is an excellent monitor, especially for customers who work in the sRGB or P3 color space.
Conclusion
The current street price of about 570 euro make the MSI Summit MS321UP – with the equipment and user support – almost a no-brainer. From my point of view, you can buy it without hesitation. The MS321UP determines the price-performance ratio for a monitor in the size. Other market players will have to do the same. From me there is a clear buy recommendation!
It’s also important to remember that a monitor is not a short-term investment. But unlike the MEG381CQR+, the MS321UP – is not an “HDR gaming box” overloaded with useless gimmicks and completely overpriced. So, that was a completely different monitor than the upcoming gaming flicker boxes today. How does something like that come across to you? Do you also want to see more of this kind of monitor? Please let me know… see you in the forum!
