MSI Geforce RTX 2080 Super Gaming X Trio review – Heavy chunk on soft soles

Temperature gradients and boost clock in detail

The cooler is really good, so that you can leave the temperatures of 69 in open construction and 72 to 73 °C in the closed housing. However, you can already notice the limits of the very high map here, if the distance to the side wall of the housing becomes too small and you immediately suck the warm exhaust air again to some extent. The clock is still up to 1935 MHz even in the closed housing and after the final warm-up, which is very good. But you can even overclock a little bit and adjust the fan curve, then it goes with this card up to over 2100 MHz.

This is no different with the stress test, because the waste heat is largely the same as the power consumption.

And now the whole thing again in sober numbers in table form, and I compare the map to the larger GeForce RTX 2080 FE in fairness:

Board Analysis: Infrared Images

The following image gallery shows all infrared images for the gaming and the torture loop in the open structure and in the closed case. The differences are visible, but the cooler acts well and very quietly, because it is not so much hotter in the end. What is really striking, however, is that there are no real hotspots, but the area is quite uniformly heated. This testifies to the already mentioned pavement with thermal pads and the connection of large areas to the radiator.

Temperatures rise by two to five degrees, but the box can no longer breathe freely

The stress test shows the same picture, especially since the increase is not yet one degree compared to the gaming in closed enclosures.

Here, in the closed structure, up to five degrees are added once again. Nothing to really think about, because even these temperatures are completely uncritical
