Finally, let’s move on to everyday applications. We recognize this time that the differences rather result from the respective measured application and the more or less matching design of controller and firmware. Depending on the number and size of the data packets, one or the other SSD is in front or behind. From a purely subjective point of view, even the external SATA SSD is not a total failure and I still prefer to work with very durable MLC SSDs even on my production system (fast PCIe 4 SSD with 2 TB for the system) because there are fewer failures. The last SSD of this type was eventually broken with around 1.8 petabytes, but you have to manage that first.
Let’s look at the read first, where the differences vary between very small and enormous depending on the application. So you have to take a close look at which program best suits your own environment.
