Assembly and commissioning
I don’t want to make a drama out of the assembly, because it was really fast. Hexagon socket screws in thick solid design make life easier and improve the planned durability immensely. And everything starts, as in real life, with the legs. The two drives are invisible in the solid telescopic stands. Good for the look, but hardly repairable in an emergency, because everything was welded.
Of course, you can also make life difficult for yourself and use a screwdriver with a bit holder. This is still better than the enclosed auxiliary tool, but elegant and easy on the joints is a different story. But it would go at least.
That clears the first hurdle and the tabletop attachment sits bombproof.
At the latest from the feet I have switched back to my small cordless screwdriver out of sheer convenience. This speeds up the action to an unimaginable degree, and in no time at all the feet were firmly connected.
The result is already as solid as an oak and you should first screw in the adjustment feet for height adjustment completely. That would be a bit troublesome later on with a possible correction. So don’t forget, because you have to unscrew them first to get the annoying protective film off.
And now it’s the turn of the plate. It’s nice that everything happens with threaded inserts and not wood screws, which of course comes in handy for long-term durability.
Put the parts on, tighten and you’re done. The center rail initially sits loosely between the screwed uprights, but this is normal because the screws come at the very end. First, we pack in everything that has a plug.
The power supply provides two outputs for the two output drives and one input for the height adjustment control.
If the cables are neatly inside, the cover comes on. Here, unfortunately, the manual is a bit tight-lipped, but it is so intentional that the screws are already tight against the inner rails. For so they once again neatly fix the construction. The cover can still be slid back and forth relatively easily, which is an intended feature and not a flaw in the gap dimensions. Unfortunately, this is not mentioned in the manual and tender minds will probably rather doubt its power.
At the very end, you can then make the cables nice, blow dry and lay, as well as screw the panel for the altitude control.
This panel is the only component attached with two wood screws. Due to the slotted holes, you can also get it nice and flush.
The panel is self-explanatory and still has a USB charging port on the side. Once you have screwed everything in place, the table is ready to be assembled.
I’m almost certain that you can get the whole thing assembled faster than you can write it down and proofread it. There are no secrets, and everything fit right off the bat. In the end, I still had massive amounts of screws left, but that wasn’t up to me. Maidesite simply had one package made up for all models here, which is probably even cheaper in the end than having everything fragmented at great expense. Fits, does not wobble and stands like a rock.
Summary and conclusion
If the part had not arrived here by chance and stayed here, I probably would have bought it. With something like this, I’ll definitely never buy parts that say gaming on them again. Such a first self-experiment is always very healing. Yes, the old table looked quite good at first glance and also had a XXXL mouse pad right there. But it was even more expensive to buy (just under 580 euros), a shaky construction and in the end simply not worth the money.
The Maidesite S2 Pro Plus is not cheap, but there are more expensive tables with similar features. The 125 kilo load capacity (even with automatic lifting) is not just in the specs, because the table even manages me. I spared you the video, but I did the test to ease my conscience a bit as well. You can leave it like this and also buy it, that’s just a side note. I never do affiliate links, so again, the link to the store is free (but hopefully not free). If you like, you can also click below, the delivery is quite fast. Only the selection of table tops could be a little larger, others can do a little better.
The drive is quiet, powerful, and smooth, programming is a breeze, and use ends up being exactly what you expect it to be at this price. Cheaper is certainly always possible, but actually hardly better. Unless you want high-end designer goods in nice stainless steel and valuable real wood. Then you are completely wrong here. The solid middle class reigns here. I hope you are wiser now and know what is important in such a table. Then it also works with the well-being!
