Time is running out and many are already waiting for the second part and today is the day (who missed the first part: click here). We take a look at the finished high-end gaming PC including the peripherals. The focus will be on the topic of custom water cooling. So if you expect there to be much on the subject of PC assembly in general today, I’m afraid I’ll have to disappoint you. A few pictures and words I will certainly also let go to this on you, do not worry! But how to assemble a PC I don’t have to show or explain to most readers here.
There are probably also some readers among you who have already had some experience with custom water cooling. On the one hand, they will probably see how the PC has turned out, and on the other hand, they will be able to confirm one or two of our experiences. My goal for this article for today’s Easter Sunday is to take some of the fear out of a custom water cooling project for one or two readers. At the first moment this sounds like mysterious voodoo, I can assure you, it is in no way!
In the last half year, you’ve read a few unpleasant articles here on Igor’s site about all-in-one water cooling systems. I myself fell victim to such a botched AiO, and as a result, completely converted my test bench to custom water cooling. Article available here: Click! Since I have to rebuild a lot during testing and a hard-tubing in this case only disturbs, you see a pure soft-tubing with me. For me, this is quite enough!
Anyone who is seriously considering a custom water cooling system should definitely think carefully beforehand: What do I actually want? How much space do I need? Do I prefer to use soft tubing or do I want to bend hard tubing? And very important: Really think about how the whole thing should look in the end. Most importantly, start thinking about possible alternatives right at the beginning. Who seriously wants to use Hard-Tubes, which should think in any case about angle pieces (corner connectors) as a contingency plan and buy such also if necessary equal! Why? I’ll come back to that later.
Since my brother-in-law has a CAD program, we didn’t have to resort to paper and pencil to sketch out the project once. This also makes alternative plans possible in advance already for the “What if” drawer, since all you have to do here is redesign and click on Save plan A/B/C. Since not everyone has such a thing, you should make hand sketches. With soft tubing, you can just build everything into the PC, put the fittings on the components you want to cool, and then run the tubing freehand. Nobody has to be afraid of that! When bending pipes, however, the wheat is quickly separated from the chaff and sometimes even man from monkey. Laughter is allowed!
To get you started, here’s my brother-in-law’s master plan!
Yes, that looks pretty neat. Even the Be Quiet! Silent Base 802 can be recognized! Anyone who has spatial imagination will now realize that this is not just a matter of bending 1 times 90 °. Here are several bends to make in 3D space. I had to pause for a moment and called a few colleagues to see what they thought. Next page please.
