Greek gods and automatons in battle against RAM giants – Acer Predator Talos and Apollo Preview and OC Teaser

Since the specsheet for the high-end Apollo modules is already online, I want to take a quick look at it, too. Apollo is said to be the spearhead of the new memory kit lineup, with exciting design, abundant RGB and specially selected Samsung B-Die memory ICs for maximum performance. SKUs range from entry-level DDR4-3200 CL18 with 16GB total capacity to kits with DDR4-5000 CL19, total capacities of up to 64GB, or a compromise of both.

32 GB modules or DDR4-5000 with timings 19-26-26-46 do not really look like Samsung 8 Gbit B-Die, but other ICs with such stringent binning wouldn’t hurt the final performance either. Predator probably needs to sharpen up on the specs again here, but they’re forgiven for being the first throw into the ring of RAM colossi. Because as long as the quality of the product is right, marketing is only of secondary importance.
