So, the Terra has great looks and interesting features, but how does it look in terms of cooling performance? In direct comparison to a completely open setup, it has to prove itself at 100% fan speed for the CPU cooler and 50% PWM for the graphics card (MSI tests only).

Especially in Prime95, it can be observed well that despite the “sandwich” design, some waste heat is still emitted from the CPU side to the graphics card. Since the graphics card’s fans were turned off in this test to test exactly that, a slow warming was to be expected, though.

Summary and conclusion

Of course, looks in particular are always very subjective, but in my opinion Fractal Design has once again delivered a real treat here. The walnut wood and silver make for a great contrast on the front, and the otherwise simple exterior makes for a cohesive overall impression.

Thanks to removable “hinged doors”, something inside can be quickly replaced when needed. However, the lid is almost a bit too easy to remove for me and also bends slightly under pressure. In terms of cooling performance, the open design was unsurprisingly not surpassed, but the Terra didn’t let itself be beaten by much either. And that’s without a case fan.

I’ve only been told a price in dollars, but the called $179.99 should probably be targeted at the current exchange rate so or so similar with us. No bargain, but in the niche of high-quality ITX cases also far from expensive. If you look at the comparable DAN cases, Fractal Design is very aware of its target group. As soon as the Terra appears in the German comparison portals, I will add this passage.

Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.......
Dabei hatte ich erst letztens noch beim Corsair-Gehäuse moniert, dass es das North nicht als ITX gibt..
Aber jetzt ist nes da.. okay der Preis.. joa.. aber für so ein cooles Teil würde (und werde ich wohl höchstwahrscheinlich auch sobald es halbwegs verfügbar ist) das glatt hinblättern.

Denn ich mag diese Haptik.. okay das ist jetzt die Silbervariante, aber wenn dann nehme ich natürlich die Walnussvariante.
Die silberne sieht mir ehrlichgesagt zwar auch relativ edel aus auf den Bildern.. aber mehr als rundum-Metallgehäuse.
