After four years of forced isolation, Computex is bursting at the seams this time. We haven’t seen each other for so long, and everyone wants to talk about the past years as extensively as possible. This can be quite exhausting, because I had 15 appointments yesterday, which I could work off all on time despite various incidents. Sometimes you are even amazed at yourself.
To avoid having to absorb too much verbal filler from the marketing staff, I gave everyone a time limit of no more than 5 minutes and simply let the colleagues tell their own stories. Why should I take over their job and explain their products to you? Then rather the original. I have picked out some things for you and put them together, so that you can follow my tracks today.
I won’t show e.g. private or semi-official talks and meetings, but there were also very revealing and open discussions with senior managers, like Denny Wang (PC Partner), Jason Lin (Biostar), Cy Brown (TUL Corportion, Powercolor) and a few others that don’t belong in the public. Ergo, it was extremely long day.
And here come the videos now, just click through because everyone had to be really brief on purpose. And I was really iron, because after 5 minutes there is a hard cut. One of them got hit and you are welcome to find out who. But we were almost through anyway…
Computex in motion pictures
Let’s start and cheat our way into the exhibition hall before the opening. With a previously obtained exhibitor pass, this is quite easy. You have to know how to do it, but I’ve been doing it for years and usually meet the most interesting people.
By the way, Thermal Mike from Thermaltake is a real professional, which unfortunately was not true for everyone. Some booth attendants would certainly not even have been able to sell bananas.
At Zotac I found out what went wrong with sampling in the last years and by chance I met the bosses. Ergo, it can probably get better again from now on.
Stopover at Sharkoon. Sitting comfortably for a while and listening in a relaxed way.
At Alphacool you can see the boss himself and the products even get a face.
Then we quickly go to Powercolor. Wasn’t there something? Yes, we also talked about that.
And then quickly to Sapphire. A must, especially because they had nice cold drinks.
And at the end there was a real VGA-jack to see. We will discuss the details up to the PCB on Friday behind closed doors.
And what else? I don’t want to show you all the clips, that’s what the YouTube channel is for. And some things don’t belong in the video. From that point of view, the next day will be just as stressful. I’ll quickly grab a cup of coffee and then I’ll be on my way.
