Stress tests
To keep the comparison nice and simple, I simply did a run completely without the case and then tested again in the case. Best case (without case) and in case, so to speak. I set the CPU cooling fan to a fixed 100%, and the graphics card ran at 50% fan speed. Here are the reference values without the case:
And the results with the same hardware and the same fan speeds, but the two 140mm fans installed in the Ridge still fixed at 40% PWM:
Here are the average values after 5 minutes in direct comparison:

Summary and conclusion
Fractal Design has delivered a real treat here – once again – not only in terms of looks. Despite the fairly compact size, the case is quite easy to build in compared to other ITX cases. In the upright position, the name “Ridge”, which means “the ridge, uppermost edge of a mountain”, fits the white version particularly well. On the desk for me a real eye-catcher.
However, there are still a few points of criticism, namely the lack of dust filters in the holey side panels. With a maximum height of 70mm for the CPU cooler, the options are also quite limited, both in terms of choice and cooling performance. It might be a bit tight for the particularly hungry heat heads of the current processor generation, but this case shares this problem with the other offers from the SFF sector. Nevertheless, the results are quite respectable compared to the runs completely without a case, and the two 140mm fans naturally benefit the graphics card in particular. The possibility to install a triple-slot graphics card without the two large fans is also welcome. Depending on the exact model, three 80mm fans can still be accommodated in the lid. If you don’t mind the higher price for ITX hardware, you will get a really nice and versatile case, which can also be hidden in the TV cabinet if necessary.
