Summary
I bought the furniture online from a Czech store, which of course involves a certain amount of risk if you order it outside our ideal world of standardization. Table tops from China, metal legs from Ukraine and my tools from the basement. However, I gave away less than 5 cm of space on each side of the leg, which can de facto be described as a perfect fit, without having to weigh up master carpentry sawdust with gold. And if I now tell you that this L-shaped room only has a floor area of just under 27 m², then I consider this installation of up to four seats with this vast amount of furniture and technology to be a thoroughly maximum utilization.
So now you know what it looks like here on one of the two floors and why, because I spend a large part of the day here, I’ve made everything a bit more efficient and homely. It’s easier to link a lot of things together and I can save myself the odd trip upstairs to the lab. Apart from the fact that heating costs can be optimized in winter and you don’t have to spend a lot of money cooling down two or three rooms in summer. In the laboratory, everything will remain as it was for the time being, but there will also be some rebuilding and optimization…
… because I still have to make room for something in the workshop, which I will write about in due course. Let’s all be surprised, especially as it’s not the fan tester. That will be something elsem, but nice.
Now everyone is a bit smarter again, I’m a few euros poorer, but richer in experience. Sore muscles included. Lying under the table for ages and screwing and laying cables overhead is no longer really my thing. But the tidiness and the cables that are no longer visible are a nice reward in the end. Then you quickly forget your little niggles. On that note, have a nice weekend and don’t forget: After the cable is before the cable! This!
