Conclusion
Let’s come to the conclusion of this article. What are the strengths and weaknesses of the SCIMITAR Elite Wireless and who is the model aimed at? Basically, the mouse is very well made, and you really have to hand it to Corsair. The combination of matte coating, glossy elements and rubberized contact surfaces feels more premium than roughly textured hard plastic. However, I can also say from experience that matte surfaces do not stay matte forever with frequent use, and shiny/abrasive areas will not be absent. However, that is in the nature of matte surfaces.
With 113 grams of combat weight, the lack of a firmly defined sniper button and a sensible rest for the thumb, I couldn’t recommend the mouse to any shooter gamer with a clear conscience – especially not to “low-sensors”, because frequent lifting and moving of the mouse without a suitable resting surface for the thumb is bound to cause frustration in fast shooters. Basically, the MARKSMAN sensor is able to perfectly implement even the fastest movements, but that doesn’t help if I then trigger three – four side buttons when moving the mouse, which are possibly also occupied.
In MMOs, on the other hand, where it’s not quite as hectic except for the activation of all the spells and buffs, I rather see the mouse there, because it offers a lot of buttons and at the end of the day it was developed for exactly this purpose. The many side buttons are of course not a novelty and most likely another manufacturer has already come up with the idea of making the side buttons movable/variable, but the implementation of the SCIMITAR Elite is still great.
From a pragmatic point of view, the many keys can of course also be used well in productive use, especially if you have to deal with many key combinations or macros, I can imagine the SCIMITAR Elite as a comfortable work aid. The illumination can be turned off if you prefer a serious appearance.
Unfortunately, the price of the device is once again typical for Corsair. Even though they serve a niche market and many competing products are also located in these areas: 149.99 Euros is a lot of money for a mouse made of plastic.
The mouse was provided by CORSAIR for this test. The only condition was the compliance with the lock period, no influence or compensation took place.
