With the HS65 Surround, Corsair wants to reach the slightly less “flashy” users. Instead of RGB lighting and gaming features, the HS65 goes back to basics: stable construction, comfortable fit and decent sound. Thanks to the new Sonarworks SoundID technology, the sound should also be excellently adaptable to personal preferences. By the way, I collaborated with Igor on this review. He wanted to use his new measuring device for headphones, but didn’t have enough time to do a complete headset review because of the extensive tests for the Radeon Refresh. So this time there is something from both of us.
Corsair’s Goals: The HS65 SURROUND is designed to sit comfortably throughout the day with high sound quality, comfortable leatherette memory foam ear cushions and Dolby Audio 7.1 surround sound, as well as a lightweight aluminum reinforced construction. Sonarworks SoundID technology is said to allow the headset’s settings to be customized to the listener’s personal preferences, and a 3.5mm audio plug is said to realize extensive compatibility.
Unboxing
To find out which goals were achieved in the end, we unpack the headset first. The box comes in Corsair’s typical yellow-black and shows a picture of the product. A molded cardboard insert provides a good grip in the box, which reduces unnecessary plastic waste.
In addition to the guides, a USB dongle is included, which is essential for using the full range of functions via iCUE software.
The device in all its glory.
The temple is adorned with a discreet Corsair lettering
The back of the ear cups is adorned with a grille with the Corsair logo.
On the left earpiece, there is a simple volume control in addition to the flip-up microphone.
The bracket can be extended generously,
The ear pads are covered with soft faux leather and have a textile surface from the inside.
With dimensions of approx. 65mm x 45mm, the pads are also very generously sized.
Of course, the pads can also be removed and replaced, but the price for the replacement pads is not yet known due to lack of availability. At the same time, I took a closer look at the driver. Unfortunately, there is nothing “special” to see here.
