Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro SE Review – Wireless, Flawless, Unrivaled?

The Corsair Dark Core RGB Pro SE is the latest mouse in Corsair's Dark Core range. It is a wireless gaming mouse, of course with RGB lighting, as well as Bluetooth function. The simpler Dark Core RGB Pro is available for around 100€ and the SE version with Wireless Charging for approx. 110€, so both are definitely in the upper price range for mice, which should not be a problem as long as features, quality and price also fit together.

Included in the packaging are the mouse, a USB-C cable, a wireless dongle, an alternative support for the little finger and of course a quick guide. The customer then does the rest by initiative and download and you don't have to write more about the scope of delivery.

Optics and haptics

At first glance, the mouse looks very sporty and looks very gaming-like due to its large number of illuminated surfaces, if you can or must say so. But it also makes a high-quality impression at first glance, especially the variety of very different surfaces makes it a real eye-catcher.

The mouse has several surfaces with a rubber-like and textured surface, which is the thumb rack, the scroll wheel and the back of the mouse. Under the back of the mouse, facing the user, is a shiny black stripe that stretches from one illuminated accent to the left to the other side. Such a strip can also be found between the two mouse buttons. The rest of the mouse is plain matte plastic with a relatively coarse surface to provide more grip.

As I said, the lighting is very eye-catching. Illuminated are the mouse wheel, a stripe under the two thumb buttons, the logo on the back of the mouse and two small accents at the bottom left and right of the mouse. The mouse has a very ergonomically mature shape for users who like to put their palm on the back of the mouse (Palm Grip), but Claw Grip users might have problems with this shape, as the mouse is very long overall and also flat. The rubberized surfaces feel pleasant and always offer enough grip even with long use.

And if the little finger is not comfortable enough, you can attach the alternative fingerrest to the mouse. Under this detachable part you can also accommodate the wireless dongle.

Overall, I can only write positive things about the form and comfort. Unfortunately, however, I have to say that the relatively high weight of approx. 130g probably not everyone's taste. Another item on the very individual Mag-I list (or not) of the Dark Core SE are gliders that are not as smooth as I personally expect from a gaming mouse. Although they are very even and make mouse movements more gentle, they also slow down a little.  This may be because of the relatively large area of the feet in combination with the weight, but it still needs getting used to.

For these reasons, i personally was not able to be as precise as usual with many other mouse as I normally do with many other mouse, but personal preferences are also very important here. Whoever prefers gentle and evenly gliding mice will love this mouse, but I prefer light and as smooth mice as possible: everyone should also buy what they think they need.
