Topology and teardown
This high-end FSP platform uses a bridgeless APFC converter, full-bridge topology and LLC resonant converter to achieve the highest efficiencies. The build quality is high, the components are good, and the soldering quality is pretty good. All capacitors are from Japanese manufacturers Chemi-Con and Rubycon, which ensures the longevity of the power supply even under harsh operating conditions. The fan is also of high quality and uses a fluid dynamic bearing.
A quick look at the PCB quickly reveals the advantage of the larger dimensions. There is enough space between the components to allow good air circulation, especially on the secondary side. The two small heatsinks in front of the main transformer are for the 12V FETs installed on the solder side of the board. The VRMs responsible for the secondary lines are located on a daughterboard which also contains the supervisor IC. The fan has no frame to improve airflow, which complicates the disassembly process. However, this is not important for future buyers, as you should only disassemble your PSU if you are trained to do so.
