AMD flooded: Radeon RX 5700 XT with an EKWB RX 5700 under water easily overclocked to 2.1 GHz | igorsLAB Review

To overclock, I had used two different power limits: the original ex works and once an increase to the maximum 50%. The effects on the clock history are clearer than the average FPS ultimately claims. We see that the blue curve (50% more PL) is much more balanced and even peaks beyond the 2.1 GHz are possible. Nevertheless, the growth in gaming performance is rather manageable. I think you will drive much better with a maximum of 10-20 percent more power limit.

This is also evident in the power consumption of the Radeon RX 5700 XT. First of all, let's look at the water-cooled map without everything. So no OC and no increase of anything. With 214.23 watts you are well in the picture and is only about 7 watts above the GeForce RTX 2070:

With only 3.5 watts more, the card stable reaches the maximum clock that can be achieved without further raising the power limit. after all, these 3.5 watts are worth a whopping 6 FPS, which is quite pleasing:

Only when you set the 50% and start the finale Furioso, it gets really hectic and the spikes really do their name. But the plentiful 21 watts more is nothing compared to the over 400 watts total intake, which I almost had to beat into a Radeon VII for similar clock rates.

And because it's just bouncing so nicely, I took exactly this overclocking setting and let Furmark run with it. The water block of course does what it is supposed to do: cool well.

In summary, the comparison of all power consumption values.  AMD has not yet overtaken the GeForce RTX 2070 in terms of both gaming performance and efficiency. But you're already close. And that's the pleasing thing about the story, besides the price, of course.

Summary and conclusion

The Radeon RX 5700 XT is not a bad card per se, even if you spoil the cooling with the blower a bit the cutting edge. But there will also be custom models, whose coolers will hopefully be much quieter and more potent. Then such a navi map, if you don't want to be the raytracer of the nation, is certainly not an uncool solution. Always assuming AMD bends the drivers straight and that with the radiation tracking drags something. Then you will have peace of mind for the next few years.

However, if you are on RTX On, there is no way around Green. Nice to die or cheaply daddling – there's something for everyone. Today's article therefore sees itself more as a feasibility study and less as a purchase recommendation. I also attach great importance to this, because the premises that the respective user sets himself are still a private matter. In the end, everyone can value their fasson happily. And that's exactly what we haven't had for a long time. For this, my thanks go to AMD and also the green target group can be pleased, because with the prices something goes again. Both.

For the reading lazy and last page clickers, however, I also have the appropriate video. You can try it 🙂
