Unboxing, accessories and parts
Difference number one to all the Asia clones: it comes in a big box instead of a flat one, which of course makes the rather lazy sack in me rejoice. The weight of the whole load is about 25 kilos, which of course doesn’t bother my DHL driver because he uses a hand truck. Only the bringing in was then my part and yes, it went just so through the door. Unpack? Yes, but this goes rather deep relaxed and without Styrofoam. Accordingly, I do not need the vacuum cleaner today.
Difference number two: the part is virtually already pre-assembled. We’ll see that right away during final assembly that you just have to combine the separately packaged, really heavy aluminum base with the 5 casters (also a separate bag) and the gas strut (also separately packaged). The actual seat including the mechanism is pre-assembled and is only waiting for the backrest to be inserted. Assembly time with energy drink no 10 minutes, you do not need tools. Particularly ambitious people can also do it in under 5 minutes. Nevertheless, I’ll show you the procedure in detail, then you’ll see how the parts of the manual work in practice.
The base as aluminum cast is as massive as a low mountain range and also relatively high. The stability is good, and I wouldn’t know of a trigger that would allow me to scrap the thing in normal everyday use. It adds to the weight, of course, but since you’re rolling the chair rather than lifting it, you may as well not care.
The rollers are ok, on laminate it works quite well and without rumbling. This is on par with what you’ve often seen in regular office chairs, but since the transducers are stadard sizes, you can tweak such casters yourself if need be.
The Class4 gas spring is standard and nothing special, although you can do some sleek customizing here as well. Since the aluminum base is so solid, it can be removed and replaced later if necessary, if you apply some gear grease before inserting it.
Or you can use the service offered, because Adept attaches great importance to sustainability and repair or replacement options. I’ll come back to that later, but that is unfortunately not a matter of course, even in this price range. But you can also use longer or shorter springs of the same diameter, which encourages experimentation.
The stupid thing about the story is that you assemble the little bit of stuff faster than it can be read or written down here. Because assembly then consists of just two more short steps: place the seat on the finished base and click in the backrest. That’s it!
I now have much more time to describe all the mechanical features and the many adjustment options. So it’s okay to keep turning the pages!
