I had already mentioned the individual settings, now comes the scheme with the details. Again, I don’t have to write chair lyricism, because almost everything is self-explanatory and also common knowledge. The adjustment of the backrest follows the familiar principle, but could have gladly had one or two more firmly locking steps. Alternatively, you can dispense with a fixed locking device and allow the spring to track. This works quite well when leaning back, but it could also be adjusted a bit tighter. Large and heavy upper bodies in particular would certainly like a bit more counterpressure. However, the setting of this hardening is well solved with a kind of slipping clutch, where you also notice acoustically that you have reached the end of the maximum possible counterforce.
Adjusting the armrests is simple and is done in all 4 planes. More is also not possible, moreover, you can fold away the two backrests separately completely to the rear and down. Also the rest of the whole pedal set. Levers and buttons are easy to reach and sit exactly where you would expect them to be.
What has to be mentioned, though, because it’s really well done, is that the entire seat, which is 46 cm long and up to 50 cm wide, can be shifted forward by a whopping 11 cm. This is exactly what makes the difference between tension and comfortable thigh support. Thus, the seat is not only wide, but also long enough.
The cushions are sufficiently contoured and also pleasantly firm. without, however, appearing harsh. But they are anything but spongy sofa cushions, which you notice after sitting for several hours. The Holo used here throughout the day doesn’t do all that much worse than my office chair that costs more than twice as much, but I miss the three-dimensional seat joint. Of course, you can’t have everything and if I’m being honest, I usually lock this when gaming anyway.
In general, the build quality of the upholstery and covers is top notch and the implementation of the adjustment options and their minimum and maximum positions are also suitable. Datz also includes the lordosis support, which they have hidden a bit inside behind a removable cover, because it also looks visually nicer:
And because we were talking about sustainability and service earlier, there is a second “secret hiding place” above. There you will find an Allen wrench that fits exactly where you could screw and unscrew parts if something should have broken after all. This can then also be easily exchanged again, as the service department can also keep the parts in stock for a longer period of time. This, in turn, is the advantage of a mature modular series production of products that are also carried on the market for a longer period of time and the local production in Germany.
That’s all you can really write about a chair without boring the reader. You certainly can’t reinvent the wheel, but you can certainly optimize the whole thing. Turn the page once more, then comes the thick end.
