E-Sports and Indie Games
Without big words still just a few much-played games. CS:GO runs in 1080p with “medium” settings at over 200 FPS in the bot match and never dropped below 110 FPS at any time. Whether that’s enough for pro gaming I can’t judge, but for me those framerates would be enough for an occasional competitive match.
Playerunknown’s Battlegrounds running at over 80 FPS is honestly not something I would have expected. However, over the last 2 years the performance has been improved and in potato-optics (low details) you can play a round even with outdated hardware.
Also Fortnite runs acceptably with 67.8 FPS. The low 1% lows at 29.1 FPS could certainly be fixed if you don’t necessarily want to play at medium details and 100% resolution scaling.
Minecraft (Java Edition) seems to me to still be mostly CPU bound even on this old card. At least my son was wide-eyed that I was shown close to 1000 FPS at times. He didn’t know that despite using a considerably faster GTX 970. I tested in the “Fancy” setting with 16 chunks and got an average of 229.9 FPS in 10 minutes of gameplay.
