MSI Center
Unfortunately, every manufacturer has its quirks in terms of software – one more, the other less annoying. The MSI Center already got the short end of the stick in my last review, and I can unfortunately only pick it up again. The software is just bloated and ragged, at the end of the day I only need a handful of features and still have to install a whole arsenal of stupid tools. Fortunately, you can at least skip some things.
Several tools make the confusing chaos perfect.
In the “Gaming Gear” overview, the software shows me the GM51. If I change the mice during runtime, the software collapses and quits with an endless loading animation when I want to change the DPI, for example.
But until I installed the available firmware update, I couldn’t even get into the settings anyway.
And all the fuss so that I can occupy the five keys
and make a few sensor adjustments.
To adjust the lighting, of course, I need another tool within the MSI Center.
After restarting the PC and reconnecting the other mouse, I even got to admire the exclusive settings of the wireless mouse.
In addition to the battery settings shown in the previous image, the GM51 Wireless also has the Speed Shift function. I would have liked to test it, but when I clicked on Confirm after making a setting, the function was always reset to the default setting.
Overall, the same is unfortunately true for the MSI Center as for most other configuration programs: Completely overloaded, pointlessly bloated and completely missing the mark.
