Conclusion
Now we come to the conclusion. I’m a little torn, because the pros and cons of the E600 MX are pretty much in balance and it’s difficult for me to leave my personal taste out of the conclusion. Basically, I have to admit that I’m not a big fan of the CTE design. Although the approach is great, makes a lot of sense in theory and everything can be confirmed in practice under real test conditions with meaningful measurement results, the disadvantage with the poorly accessible connections still remains. If you now weigh up all the facts, you will get a fairly balanced ratio of advantages and disadvantages. Personally, I don’t think the marginal thermal advantage of the CTE design is justified if I have to buy miserably long cables and dismantle half the PC every time to connect a monitor cable or a new input device.
The case doesn’t deserve the award because of the thermal design, but because of the very neat material appearance, the great look and the exciting detail solutions. Due to the open design with the removable front, the basic construction must have a certain stability, which Thermaltake ensures through appropriate material thicknesses. As a result, the case feels very high-quality overall and the clean workmanship also underlines this great haptic impression. The E600 MX also impresses with its extreme capacity – 14 (!) fans, E-ATX support, 44cm long graphics cards, 22cm long power supplies and sufficient space for extreme cooling circuits make the case the ideal home for high-end systems and it also takes up considerably less space on the desk than the Dark Base Pro 901, for example, with its depth of just under 60cm.
To summarize, the Thermaltake CTE E600 MX can be credited for its decent cooling performance, good workmanship, great looks and extensive capacity, but you have to accept the inconvenience of the cable routing and also take into account that the case has an RRP of approx. 220€ (street price is more like 180€!) and comes to the customer with riser cables, but without a single pre-installed fan.
“The case was provided by Thermaltake for this test. The only condition was compliance with the embargo period, there was no influence or compensation.”
