Summary
ASUS ROG offers the customer who is looking for a heavy mouse and needs all sorts of features – the right nager. From programmable keys, to RGB, to hyper-polling at 8,000 Hz, it’s all there. The workmanship is very good and you can disassemble the mouse very easily without tools. The included USB cable (2 meters) is sleeved and very flexible. If the cable bothers you, you can always switch to the dongle. With the dongle, you “only” have up to 1,000 Hz polling rate, but that doesn’t really have a negative effect on the latency.
Bluetooth would still be feasible as an emergency solution, or if you also want to use the mouse with a notebook. After all, you can connect the mouse with up to three devices via Bluetooth. Furthermore, you can create your own logo and conjure it on the small white cover. Another ASUS gimmick from the category: Who needs it? In general, you can’t complain about the mouse’s equipment package.
Conclusion
The mouse is really fast and offers full flexibility in every situation. A real all-rounder you can say. The battery life in dongle mode was about 100 hours for me (with RGB Sync on). The stated up to 150 hours can only be reached with deactivated RGB and the sleep mode after just one minute. Charging is possible via USB cable or induction. So if you have a mouse pad or headset stand, etc. with wireless charging, you can use your lunch breaks for charging. Thus, the battery basically never runs out. You cannot replace the battery, which also means I cannot tell you how long the battery will last.
I cannot give a direct purchase recommendation at a street price of 152 Euros. But for the eSports or peripheral enthusiast looking for that last bit of performance and flexibility, it’s through autwas – they might find it here. You have to want it, and in the end that means you have to be willing to spend that kind of money. The 8,000 Hz polling rate brings a bottom line improvement of one millisecond (E2E). I wouldn’t call it a latency miracle, but it is a measurable improvement, even if only a small one. Where you can definitely notice it – is in tracking and precision – due to the high sampling rate.
Now the ABBA (the Swedish pop group from the 70’s): without implementing the 8,000 Hz hyper polling in the game of choice, the whole thing ends up being useless. I was only able to locate Valorant in a hurry. This game supports hyper-polling. So, anyone who buys such a mouse – with the intention – to use the 8,000 Hz, should know that and inform themselves first. Eyes open when buying mice! I have finished…
The mouse was provided to me by ASUS ROG without obligation – for testing purposes. There was no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish.
