After all the monitors, it’s time for a change. The ASUS ROG Chakram X comes at the right time, because we’ll get to the bottom of the marketing regarding the 8,000 Hz polling rate today. Since I’ve been testing the mouse at home since October 2022, I’ll introduce you to the device as a whole. However, my focus is clearly on the subject of sampling rate. What does a mouse with up to 8,000 Hz bring us? Is this a must-have? That’s what we’re finding out today.
A little unboxing must not be missing. The mouse will arrive well packed at your home, that’s for sure. The packaging itself is typical for ASUS and the opening effect makes the whole thing look kind of high-end. As far as the hardware equipment is concerned, ASUS supplies the buyer with everything that fit into the box: exchange/replacement buttons, various caps for the thumb joystick, USB cable (Type-A to Type-C), a dongle – with USB adapter as a possible extension (Type-C in and Type-A out), a small mouse bag for on the go, bedtime reading, etc.

ASUS has pulled virtually everything from the shelf of possibilities and packed it into this mouse. This is like a fully equipped passenger car. You will notice that at the latest when you read the RRP of 169 Euros. My question to good Chris at ASUS was, “Can the mouse do laundry and go shopping?” The price is hefty for such a rodent, but before we get hung up on that now, let’s see what comes out in the end.
