Preface to the benchmarks
In the article “VGA Charts 2012 – How we benchmark and measure” we already described in detail some time ago how we test this year. For this card, we chose the target group-specific resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels and also fall back on our performance options for the respective settings. If the card can really perform at the level we predict, then this preselection is almost mandatory. We use our test system described in the Charts article, all drivers are WHQL drivers at the latest state.
3DMark 11
In 3DMark 11 we tested all three presets for the only time, which also confirms the slight buckling of the Pitcairn cards at the extreme level. However, as long as you do not overdo it, even a GTX 560 Ti has to admit defeat by a narrow margin, although 3DMark 11 in particular is actually rather an Nvidia domain.
Unigine Heaven 2.5
A similar result is found in Heaven 2.5, where a GTX 560 Ti can be beaten and the engineering sample performs almost on par with the Radeon HD 6950 GB.
Unigine Sanctuary
In the Sanctuary benchmark, even a GTX 570 can be outperformed, although it is fair to say that this benchmark seems to suit the GCN cards especially well. Meanwhile, AMD’s predecessor generation doesn’t make a stab at all, and even a Radeon HD 7770 can be happy for once. It is also interesting that the smaller HD 7750 is faster than the HD 7770 – however, we rather suspect a driver problem at this point and will recheck these values in the regular chart updates during the next driver update.
