PNY GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XLR8 in test – with 300 Watt limit, reference board and sufficient reason

Summary

Reason wins, even if of course the 260 watts are still a smaller house number. But power comes from fuel and there is nothing to give. Nevertheless, the PNY GeForce RTX 2080 Ti XLR8 is no slower than the slightly overclocked GeForce RTX 2080 Ti FE from Nvidia, about the same loud and at the end even a little more economical, because it stays much cooler in the same closed housing and thus also less for the boost performance is needed.

PNY has deliberately dispensed with RGB games, but in return offers a pleasant look without any extreme frills and a fairly well-balanced overall picture of power consumption, cooling and performance. Sure, it would also be much quieter, heavier and perhaps faster. However, every piece of additional upgrades is always subject to negative consequences. PNY, on the other hand, has obviously tried to make more out of less

I quickly summarize what I wrote in detail on the last pages, because the reader always needs a little reminder. And for the typical first-last-page readers, I would even have the hidden hint that it is well worth reading the rest in between. It's more interesting than you might think 😉

Per Cons
Good board layout of version 1.0 (reference)
Ordinary components
Rather moderate power target ex works, suitable for dual-slot cooler
Suitable for efficient water cooling projects
Comparatively "cheap"
Simple radiator cover without RGB (rare)
Three slightly noisy 8.5cm fans
No fan stop

Conclusion

It's not the gaming overflyer card with an optical permanent alarm, but you didn't plan it that way. With the PNY RTX 2080 Ti you will find rather a neatly packaged product without real corners and edges. The map is designed largely error-free and has been well-balanced. This is also worth a purchase tip, because the card is really conspicuously inconspicuous. You have to get this right and cheap.

If you are also aiming for a water cooling system, you will get the excellent reference PCB with a very easy to dismantle cooler and at the same time a card whose power limit is more in line with the efficiency drive. It is once again a card from the rubric you can buy if the target group fits. The rest then buys Amp! Extreme Gaming XYZ Dragon products.
