The polish developer studio “People Can Fly” has released the PvE Looter-Shooter “Outriders” and combines quite clever single player and co-op content for up to three players with the possibility to switch back and forth in the game quite seamlessly. There are four quite different classes and of course lots of things to collect. But we already know that from other games. There is a lot of stuff lying around, so always take what you can use (and still wear). Anyone thinking Destiny now? Yeah, it’s kind of pretty similar. With the Square Enix account, crossplay is also possible and the PC will also tolerate consoleros and vise versa. Fancy!
The game contains a lot of role-playing elements, the storyline is spiced up with various quests and NPCs, who sometimes give out tasks that are quite challenging. Thankfully, the map allows for quick travel to locations that have already been explored, so players can not only explore various hub areas, but also return quite quickly to complete any outstanding (side) missions.
In some cutscenes, a dialogue tree allows you to decide the outcome of some conversations, but it doesn’t change the plot itself, so don’t worry. The game can be played happily and well alone, but co-op is really fun and you don’t always have to play with just friends, depending on the setting. Players graduate. The storyline can’t be undone either, and there’s a clearly defined end to the game. That’s actually a good thing. The AI isn’t quite as dumb as in some other games of this genre, so a pure single-player is also possible. First of all a small gallery to get you in the mood:
I will deliberately not spoil the plot of the climate-end-time-settlement-linear-level-loot-shooter for you, because that would take away the fun. But there is still some text about the technique and the performance. On the next page.
