Even 10 years ago, there were already technical outliers and critical "solution approaches", not just since today. At that time, I caught MSI and as a result, the manufacturer got one on the lid ("NVIDIA's Rules") and the customer subsequently got a flawless product. Yes, some of the MSI GTX 660 Ti Power Edition that was affected at that time died after longer use, but not the ones that were built AFTER my article. So even back then it was important to take a second look at a test object. And with that, I'll leave you with my old article and yes, that was really tricky and a good lesson in how everything comes out in the end. 🙂
original article
The reason for today's review was our roundup of the GTX 660 T, the subsequent reactions from our readers, as well as the feedback from the manufacturers involved. Specifically, the above-average boost clock of the MSI GTX 660 Ti Power Edition caused a stir in this test and the fact that these very high clock rates could even be maintained under load when all other (partly much higher clocked cards) already had to give up.
Miracle of technology or just some trick after all? Such a big difference can hardly come about all by itself, so that rumors have been circulating for some time that something or other might not be right. But we didn't want to make things quite that easy for ourselves, so we got to the bottom of things. For precisely this reason, we would like to make an important preliminary remark, on the one hand to curb possible emotions in advance and on the other hand not to drift in the direction of the tabloids.
The cards we tested worked in the test system without any further problems, apart from a few exceptions that we will go into in more detail in the article. They mastered all stress tests and continuous load runs and did not cause any graphics errors or other failures. However, due to the error pattern found out and confirmed by several independent parties, we consider it absolutely important not to cap this information, but to make it public. We informed MSI as the affected manufacturer, handed over the necessary information and waited for a statement before publishing this article today.
We deliberately put the conclusion, the consequences and the evaluation at the end of this article or draw an explanatory interim conclusion at the relevant points, because what we found out in the end really needs to be explained a bit more profoundly without falling into technical jargon.
