Last time, we had a small air cooler from Deepcool for testing, but today it’s practically exactly the opposite. With the new LS series, the manufacturer certifies itself “elite performance”, whether you can keep this promise you will learn in the following article.
If you prefer compact air coolers after all, here is the article on the AK400 with quite a positive overall result:
Deepcool AK400 CPU-Tower-Kühler im Test – Guter Allrounder für die Mittelklasse
Packaging and scope of delivery
The compact water cooler comes in a printed cardboard box, which is partly covered by a white sash. Besides the obligatory product picture, there is also a list of the most important features and properties on the back.
Inside the box, the contents are protected by the classic shell made of hard cardboard. The pump, radiator and fans are individually packed in plastic bags, which could be avoided for the sake of the environment.
The accessories consist of various brackets and screws as well as cables for connecting to the motherboard and lighting. Unfortunately, a tube of thermal paste is once again not available.
By the way, on the right in the picture is not an empty bag, but an extra cover for the pump block, which you can use yourself eg. can design with a sticker. Nice gimmick for some personality in your own system.
Assembly and installation
For the AM4 socket, the existing backplate of the motherboard is once again used to mount its own screws including integrated spacers. The matching bracket must then itself be attached to the underside of the pump block with four screws.
Afterwards, the pump block only has to be placed on the processor and tightened crosswise thanks to the factory-applied thermal paste. The pump and fan are connected to each other via a daisy chain system, and only the last fan is connected to the mainboard. Since the aforementioned screws with rubber spacers keep the backplate in place, the installation also works quite well without a third hand.
My PR contact and also the press guide explicitly pointed out that this AiO should be installed with the hoses down.
However, this information is not found on the product page and even the render images and instructions show the “normal” installation with side hoses. More about this later in the article.
Specifications
Here is a quick overview of the technical details before we get down to the nitty-gritty. More information can be found on the manufacturer’s product page, as usual.
