KFA2 GeForce RTX 2070 EX in review – Price disanotomy doesn't have to be cheap, but quiet and cool | igorsLAB

The opposite of expensive does not always have to be cheap. In fact, it would also be inexpensive. This is exactly what KFA2 must have thought when the GeForce RTX 2070 EX was designed. Many things were taken over here from the larger KFA2 cards and also the cooler has a decent portiönchen hip bacon, so that nothing burns. I take a closer look at this...

Overclocking

First of all, the good news: there is still a little bit in this card. But I have to push the bad news right away: it's a little bit at the expense of the socket. In the cold state, this card manages stable up to 1830 MHz, as long as you let the fans turn up fully and use the maximum power target of 114%, as well as manually adjusting 100 MHz more clock speed for the GPU. With a normal fan profile, it is still between 1785 and 1800 MHz. This is even more than the Founders Edition (with A-chip, but the worse cooler) achieves maximum in a closed housing.

If you overclock up to the stability limit, then it is just under 20 watts more. And it's just this last kick that's worth it, because the map isn't getting any louder. The Samsung memory can also be clocked a little higher, although I would be cautious here for some reasons. But thermally there is still as much air here as in a large-scale cinema. As nice as the 1-click tool may be, you can still achieve the slightly better overclocking values in the end.

We see that the difference to the GeForce RTX 2070 Founders Edition is virtually non-existent. Due to the cooler operation, the map is even a bit more efficient and almost always a little faster or faster. rarely very close behind or at the level of the Founders Edition. If you then continue to overclock, it is between 4 and 5 percent, which then come up again. This, in turn, is no longer necessarily decisive about any playability, but a nice, because hardly audible side effect.
