Very soon, the fastest Raptor Lake-S CPU will be on the market and Intel will probably launch its next (rather unreasonable) feasibility study for good money. Meanwhile, there are more and more spoilers about the performance of the new processor, so we can assume a “silent” release soon.
Intel’s Gaming Technical Marketing Lead Jason Xie offered a live demo of an unnamed desktop processor that is part of the Raptor Lake series. Although he refused to name the processor in the process, it’s pretty obvious at this point that the CPU is the Core i9-13900KS. The CPU runs on both Intel reference and standard ASUS Z790 motherboards. The system is cooled with a standard Corsair AIO liquid cooler, so no special cooler is used in this particular demo. Intel XTU (Extreme Tuning Utility) and the HWiNFO screen are displayed, which should prove that no “cheats” were applied to the demo of the 7-zip benchmark running in the background.
Jason explains that the CPU reaches 5.985 GHz with two active cores, but the frequency doesn’t always stay at this level. The frequency depends on many factors, such as the energy budget, the temperature or the software itself. Earlier leaks have shown that the i9-13900KS CPU could be launched as early as January 12. This was suggested by leakers as well as several retailers who published their offers earlier. Unfortunately, this is still unconfirmed. The price of this processor is also still unknown.
