Functionality and typing feel
For its size, the K65 Pro Mini is packed with a whole lot of features, some of which work just fine without separate software
Particularly useful, in my opinion, is that macros can be recorded directly via key shortcuts as well as saved to the 8MB of internal memory.
Depending on your preference, the keyboard can be angled a bit further in one step:
Built in are Corsair’s in-house OPX switches, whose “opto-mechanical” design uses the interruption of a photoelectric barrier to trigger them. This, along with the high polling rate, is said to provide better response time and also offers a low debounce time so that the button can be quickly pressed again.
I openly admit that I prefer to write on a large “full-size” keyboard than on a smaller variant, but after a certain period of getting used to it, it was no problem for me to fluently write down the sentences for this article. As a great friend of numpads, my right hand often typed into the void thanks to muscle memory. However, I found both the typing feel and the soundscape to be pleasant.
Soundcheck
So let’s have a listen to how this keyboard sounds. Corsair uses two layers of dampening material inside, one just above the PCB and one below. For the recording, the keyboard was on a large cloth mouse pad, angled, and I subsequently increased the volume by 15 dB.
