The be quiet! Dark Power 13 1000 W uses a high-end FSP platform that offers maximum efficiency, absolutely silent operation, and ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compatibility. We will test the large version today, because there is also the 750 watt variant and one with 850 watts besides the 1000 watt model. Already the 850 Watt is completely sufficient for a GeForce RTX 4090 FE with 450 Watt BIOS and a maximum overclocked Intel Core i9-13900K. If you want to use the 600 watts of the graphics card, you should rather switch to the 1000 watt power supply we tested today. All in all, the new series without the Pro in its name is very interesting.
Reason enough for me to once again let my friend Aris from Hardwarebusters have his say (and picture) on our site, because he has not only tested this power supply intensively, but also officially certified it via his company Cybenetics. Since it is surely interesting for you as well, I will gladly offer him the platform to share his findings with you here from case to case. And don’t forget, his website and YouTube channel also offer real gems of really well-founded reviews!
The be quiet! Dark Power 13 1000W offers Titanium efficiency and absolutely silent operation. It is ATX v3.0 and PCIe 5.0 compatible and achieves peak performance in the demanding transient scenarios required by those standards. The Dark Power 13 line consists of three members with power ratings ranging from 750W to 1000W. FSP offers all Titanium-certified platforms that promise low noise performance. After all, this brand is known for its low-noise products, so I wonder why be quiet! hasn’t yet joined the Cybenetics program that recognizes low-noise products. A “quiet” oriented brand not supporting a “quiet” oriented certification is something I can’t explain.
The be quiet! Dark Power 13 1000W is sufficiently sized with a length of 175 mm, and I also believe that this is the right way to enable quiet operation. With compact power supplies, the cramped PCBs don’t allow for good airflow between the electronic components, so the fan has to spin quickly to dissipate the heat. I also agree with the lack of semi-passive operation when the fan is rotating at low speeds under light loads. The fan stop feature increases heat inside the PSU, so fan speed spikes can be annoying. Finally, the warranty is extended to ten years.
