Corsair XC7 RGB Pro CPU water block
Next, let’s take a look at the CPU block. This one is also a familiar one from some of our reviews and rightfully finds its place in this kit again. The special feature of the kit is that the XC7 has received an update and comes pre-assembled with the LGA 1700 bracket.
Also included are an AM4 bracket, an RGB extension cable and an LGA 1700 backplate for the rear of our motherboard. It doesn’t need much more than that, and those who miss a little thermal paste can rest assured. Corsair has already applied thermal paste to the cooler base for this. Thus the CPU block is ready to go.
Now let’s take a closer look at the block. The first thing you notice is the simple mechanics responsible for bracket attachment. This can be loosened by simply turning it and easily replaced with the AM4 bracket. This type of mounting is also known from NZXT and other manufacturers of AIO water cooling systems and it is very user-friendly. Tools are also not required for installing the block, because Corsair has already attached matching thumbscrews that can be easily tightened with the fingers.
The top cover is made of brushed aluminum and makes a valuable impression. The Corsair logo is still attached to the underside. Of course, RGB fanatics are also catered for, as the CPU block can also be fully integrated into the ICUE universe and delivers the full load of RGB irradiation.
Unfortunately, what I don’t like here is the fact that the cable for the RGB control is attached to the bottom. I would have liked to see a solution on the top, because the cable gets in the way if you want a perfect, clean cable management.
I won’t go into temperatures and other details in this first review of this block, but Skullbringer has already tested this block in detail on our website. Of course, there will be exact measurements of our complete build in the second part, but as a component, the CPU water block has already passed very well. I can already spoil that the kit offers an above-average performance, but I ask for a little patience, since the modding for the overall project was a bit more complex than expected.
