Color performance with D65
I like the fact that at least the D65 can also be set in the preset OSD modes. Unfortunately, you can’t adjust the gamma value, so at least my P3 mode isn’t that first choice. But now pay attention.
OSD Setting D65
Gray Scale, Saturation and ColorChecker (Default) @ D65
I can only recommend everyone to use the default mode and create a really cool DCI-P3 panel. You see what the right white point alone can do. Calibration does not bring any perceptible added value. If you only want to gamble, calibrating would be a waste of time!
Gray Scale, Saturation and ColorChecker (sRGB Mode) @ D65
You can leave that as well. If you want more accuracy in sRGB mode, you cannot avoid calibration. I’ll spare you this set of slides. Especially since I currently have a completely different and more important problem. Because unfortunately I can’t generate HDR patterns due to a software problem related to Calman Ultimate. Thus, I cannot measure/show HDR performance. I’ll address the topic anyway, because you can always say something about an OLED and HDR. If you know your way around a little.
Uniformity
At least my test model from KTC has slight weaknesses on the right edge. I did not notice this when gaming or enjoying movies. If you use a white background for a long time, you might see this. Presumably, however, the ABL will lower the brightness beforehand.
Image errors
The minimal deviations in terms of uniformity aside… I could not find any real image errors in the form of dead pixels or other annoying things in my test sample. The KTC G42P5 works flawlessly with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync in terms of VRR. The issue of text display was also not a problem:
Sound reproduction
Yes, the KTC G42P5 is basically a remodeled LG OLED C2 TV. So, two speakers have been installed here. With 8 watts each, they’re not on the same level as my LG C1, but they’re a lot better than the usual tinny monitors. The speakers installed here also lack bass, but the mids are still quite good and the volume is really very good. And no, a pair of good headphones or a sound system will not replace these speakers!
Webcam and microphone
There is not, that is not a big deal.
