Connection in two ways: Bluetooth for beginners (and Grandma Hilde)
When you turn on the Edifier MS50A, it is always set to WLAN. To use Bluetooth, you have to press the upper control panel with the three dots until the on/off button glows blue. In WLAN mode, you only see the device on the smartphone as “Realtek Bluetooth”, but you cannot establish a connection. When the LED of the center button turns blue, you can initialize the pairing mode by pressing and holding the three dots. The rest can be found as usual. Up to this point, even grandma can still come along, because you don’t need an app for now.
Escalation level two: WLAN and firmware updates
However, those who want to use WLAN and do not want to do without the app are welcome to install the “Edifier Home App”. This works equally well on iOS and Android. Unfortunately, there is nothing for the PC and Windows. The following picture gallery shows you the processes from the installation via the offered firmware update up to the WLAN connection and the connecting. And yes, it’s actually just as fluid as scrolling through the gallery. If you follow the instructions exactly. So beam the source select button on the touch panel at the top to white light and then press and hold until the LED flashes faster. Then unobtrusively follow the prompts of the official Edifier app….
The freestyle: the PC may join in
Control from the PC works just as well. Simply open programs like Tidal and select the speaker connected to the WLAN. Then you have already de facto won. Only an older caliber like our exemplary Hilde granny is certainly overtaxed, even if the speaker’s design should rather appeal to exactly this generation. If you want to stream normal stuff and are without WLAN help, then you need a suitable Bluetooth dongle. Gibts for 10 euros play money in the Amazon.
