A good half year ago, we already had the normal variant of this cooler in review, and now another model in completely black coloring and a second fan follows. First, a question on my part: Should not “Zero Dark” actually be a completely white version of this cooler? We might not find the answer to that today, but at least I can test the cooling performance. And anyway: black is not a color!
This article otherwise largely coincides with the review of the normal AK400 from Deepcool:
Deepcool AK400 CPU Tower Cooler Review – Good all-rounder for the midrange
Packaging and scope of delivery
A plain white cardboard box with a picture of the cooler on the front and tabulated specifications on the back protects the cooler during shipping. Here and there there are a few color accents in Deepcool green.
Further protection is provided by rigid foam spacers inside the packaging, which enclose the cooler at the top and bottom.
The included accessories consist of the necessary parts for mounting and a Y-splitter for the 4-pin PWM signal of the fans.
There is nothing more, if you want to install the cooler more than once, you need a separate tube of thermal paste.
Assembly and installation
The existing backplate of the motherboard is again used for the AM4 socket. With four orange spacers, the black colored frame is first brought into position and then fixed with four screws.
In order to mount the cooler in the frame, the pre-installed fan has to be removed first. Then tighten two more spring-loaded screws and you’re ready to go.
Specifications
Before we get into the details, here is the obligatory overview of the technical specifications. More information can be found on the manufacturer’s product page.
