For the first time, at least Windows 95 has to pause. We couldn't get DirectX 9 running on Windows 95. Unfortunately, this eliminates the first generation. However, starting with Windows 98, You can install and play Sims2 without any major hurdle. Vista and Windows 7 require a patch, but it is also automatically included in newer expansion packs. That's why we installed "The Sims 2" and "The Sims 2 – Party Accessories" and then tested all systems except Windows 95.
Since we have already reached the performance limits with this game and the 6800GT, we have limited the resolution to an unusual 1280 x 800 and activated 4 x AA and 8 x AF driver side. A higher resolution causes the frame rates to collapse in leaps and bounds. Here, the small memory of the 6800GT with 256 MB is limited.
This time, Windows XP runs the fastest, ahead of Windows 7 and Vista. However, xp loading times are slightly longer than Windows Vista and Windows Seven. The load on Windows 98 is extremely long and is almost twice as long as under XP. This is where the downside of Windows 98 is that only one core is supported.
