Powerful, cool and loud: Zotac GeForce GTX 1070 Ti Amp! Extremes in the test

So, or something like that, the R&D department at Zotac must have thought when the new project was approached. But the fact that even then something can go wrong and pencil-tipping accountants hand over the rather worse designers, will be... Zotac bets on the Zotac GTX 1070 Ti Amp! In the Torture loop, the power consumption even drops below this value. A... Zotac bets on the Zotac GTX 1070 Ti Amp! Extreme on the same board as with the Zotac GTX 1080 Amp! Extreme, but there are still two clearer differences. On the one hand, you have switched from PALWONN to Victory Giant with the PCWINN pc-maker, because the brands from PC Partner also use third-party suppliers, because you can't produce everything yourself. On the other hand, the components have been bought a little cheaper.

The caps used are different and also for the other passive and active components, such as the voltage converter MOSFETs, one now finds products for example from MagnaChip instead of Sinopower. In the detail, despite the same board revision, so much has changed, which is of course due to the manufacturing characteristics of the respective pcbto manufacturer. Qualitatively, it is not an incision that would make you think, but you can also see the handwriting of the accounting.

At Zotac, the GPU sits within a modified socket with an edge elevation. This results in a welcome relief in the event of an emergency with such heavy coolers, which can exert proper pressure, even if hardly anything should go wrong in normal operation. Since Zotac also addresses overclockers and other game- and fashion-loving target groups with the card, this built-in security is only to be welcomed.

Zotac relies on uPI Semiconductor Corp's P9511P as a PWM controller for the GPU phases, which is actually a 6+2-phase model. In the end, however, the trick is to control the phases for the GPU and the memory independently of each other. It is a four-phase design for the GPU, which can control eight separate voltage converter circuits at the end thanks to doubler chips.

The memory is controlled by a smaller uP1666 from uPI Semiconductor Corp and runs over two single-speed phases that rely on the same three-way combination of N-channel MOSFETs as the GPU phases.
