New mix: Mainstream, niche, or leaks?
The usual launch articles are of course out of the discussions, I will maintain them as extensively as before. The appropriate follow-ups or re-tests are also simply necessary. Peripherals including all input and output devices are also a given. Whether you game or not, these are things you need daily. However, what we have started to push recently, for example, are monitor reviews. This involved a larger investment, along with partnerships that facilitate more professional work for us.
This affects not only part of the test equipment and the necessary software, but also the professional contact and exchange with colleagues from prad.de or Hardware Unboxed. In addition, I have programmed parts of the evaluation software myself, which has really stretched my already limited time budget. We don’t want to replace prad.de, but offer content that is suitable for our target audience.
What should also come next week, if no short-term problems arise, is finally our interactive fan database, which first had to be re-knitted multi-lingual. Based on all the very extensive measurements, an intuitively operable web interface has been created, which is probably unique in this form internationally. Search, advice, and evaluation with a few clicks – also as multiple comparisons with all metrics.
With such and other comparison and consultation platforms, I want to offer readers not only more unique content, but also relieve myself a bit. Because such databases automatically lead to a higher daily “background noise” in terms of reach, which makes renouncing various news about rumors and leaks more palatable. And it also takes away the daily pressure of “having to publish something every day”, even on weekends.
Speaking of leaks. For several months now, I’ve been trying to find a more optimal balance between leaks and tests, because I don’t want the site to degenerate into a leak journal and a keyword provider for third parties. Yes, you can do all that and there would certainly be enough material, but too many leaks also make you lonely and in the end are only a copy template for free riders who often don’t even quote correctly. It is also always a balancing act, where you have to weigh all interests cleanly and fairly. Those of the readers with the desire for fast and exclusive information and those of the manufacturers to protect their “trade secrets”.
How do you become a team member or contribute personally?
Everything is possible, nothing is necessary, and there is certainly no pressure. Anyone who wants to invest their hobby and therefore some leisure time in a more public form, is into the latest technology and has always wanted to read something from themselves, can feel free to email me at [email protected], via PM in the forum, or by phone (see imprint, but not between 12 and 3 p.m.!). We can discuss all things there. If someone is looking for an internship or likes the appropriate line in their CV, of course they can too. I would like to involve the community more intensively than before, because there are so many topic areas that I can’t cover all and others are certainly better informed about them.
If you have references, that’s okay. But it’s neither a must nor decisive. That’s why, unlike others, I won’t demand writing samples or articles, that’s ridiculous. I simply assume that readers themselves know what they can or cannot do. This is what pleasantly distinguishes the community from many others. Because there are also very good technicians and experts whose verbal acrobatics are not so perfect. Nobody has to be excluded here either, because there are already helpers for correcting and final writing. In the end, everyone does what they can do best, without having to subject themselves to any performance pressure.
