With the XP, Roccat sends the latest offspring of the Kone series into the race. The mouse is equipped with the 19,000 DPI Owl-Eye sensor, has 15 buttons + Easy-Shift thumb button and now also has the colorful AIMO 3D RGB lighting on board. Read what else the rodent can do and how it performs in practice in our review.
That ROCCAT’s latest mouse does not lack in features and illumination should already have been inferred from the first lines. The colorful and nice looking light effects are only the icing on the cake, because the Kone XP also has a lot to offer under the hood. As a little appetizer, I’ll leave you with a short trailer before I continue with the usual unboxing.
Unboxing
The compact outer box is attractively designed and lists some concise features.
The mouse itself is held by a plastic mold.
Freed from the ugly packaging plastic, the world looks different. You don’t see the design with the semi-transparent covers and keys too often – very individual and unexpectedly attractive.
Viewed from the front, the ergonomic shape immediately catches the eye. Yes, the mouse is designed for right-handers and it feels very good in the hand.
The back also slopes to the right so that the palm rests perfectly.
There are so many keys on the left side that the thumb hardly comes to rest. The DPI selection is so far forward that you can only reach it with your index finger, but the four thumb buttons and the Easy Shift button are all easily accessible.
The Easy-Shift key also serves as a small thumb rest to keep the hand’s contact with the ground as low as possible.
Only the sensor and generously dimensioned, heat-treated PTFE sliding feet are located here on the base.
For detail fans, ROCCAT has even given the USB connector a dust cap.
Otherwise, a Quick Start Guide and a set of replacement glides are included.
