Summary: Performance and power consumption
I limited myself to the most important benchmarks today, which were neither clearly driver-limited (with the exception of Siemens NX as a negative example). It should also be noted that there are no crashes or inexplicable performance losses. Everything went as expected and desired. Of course, always within the capabilities of this card.
Not much more needs to be said about this, especially since the average power consumption of 22 to 27 watts was clearly below the values for gaming. The temperatures and the fans including the tolerable noise level are also completely acceptable.
Conclusion
So where should and can the DG1 in this form of a GUNNIR Iris Xe MAX Index V2 now be placed when it comes to work use outside of the office & co? If you add the possible performance increase of the DG2 to the DG1 with the same number of shaders, including the higher clock and the faster memory, then the Arc A350 should come out around a Radeon RX 6400 or even RX 6500 (without XT), which would be quite a decent performance.
And what remains as a conclusion in the Ultra-Light workstation area? Especially AutoCAD surprised me (but not only). What Intel is also good at is Windows 2D. Especially when using the GDI and GDI+, the Intel driver really does not have to hide. Older versions of CorelDRAW ran buttery smooth even with large workloads and no worse than with the current NVIDIA or AMD cards! This could be an unintentional but important use case for the small arc cards: older CAD and layout programs from the Windows XP era, which are not easy to replace for certain reasons.
I’m already through with that, because you can’t do much more with this card. However, since the results always coincide, today’s statement should be quite representative enough. It’s getting really exciting, so let’s wait for the launch of the final cards. Maybe Intel can get over itself and switch back to sampling mode. If not, I will have to go the (un)usual way again. Then just without NDA, but just as curious as ever 🙂
