Now we’re going full speed ahead! The already insane 208 LEDs of the 5000T are now joined by another 162 LEDS with the LC100 Case Accent Lights including expansion set. Thanks to the hinge-like magnetic connectors, the flexible triangles can take on all sorts of interesting shapes and, of course, glow in every color imaginable. Read what you can do with the small panels in our review.
If you are not a fan of excessive RGB lighting, you have to be very strong now. If I had already recommended wearing sunglasses for the Corsair 5000T, almost the same amount of colored LEDs is now added. The small triangles, which strongly remind of the well-known Nanoleafs for the wall, represent another individualization option for the computer.
Foreword
Before a discussion about the sense of such a product arises in the comments, I would like to explicitly point out here that this is a completely optional customization option. Whether you light your living room with a construction site lampholder or a designer lamp, equip your small car with 15″ steel rims or 17″ aluminum rims – such decisions are always a matter of personal taste and nobody is forced to buy or install something like that.
Unboxing
Before we delve deeper into the matter, let’s first free the whole story from its packaging.
The starter kit consists of nine magnetic triangles with nine LEDs each and the corresponding controller. It can be extended by nine additional triangles with the extension kit.
The expansion kit also actually consists of only the master and 8 normal modules.
Each module has contacts on two sides for the previous and subsequent module.
The connection is realized via magnetic contact rollers, which also act as a kind of hinge and bring some flexibility to the matter. The small connectors (left) offer slightly less play, while even 90° kinks can be realized with the larger connectors (right).
Both kits strung together, interesting constructs can be realized.
In principle, the master module can be located at any point of a 9-unit setup, but it is best to place it at the end or in the middle for easier configuration. More on this follows on pages two and three.
