That I can still experience this: With the Virtuoso Pro, Corsair is launching an open headset on the market that almost completely met the expectations of a rather critical tester (i.e. me) in relation to the price. Yes, as always you will find this and that, but all in all this very airy and almost perfectly fitting headset is a very pleasant sound experience at a surprisingly reasonable cost by Corsair standards. The workmanship is top notch and there is little to criticize. That’s a little spoiler up front, because I was quite suspicious at first. And now this…
Target group
The fact is, however, that Corsair has picked a target group other than the normal gamer on a tight budget. It is a high-quality analog gaming headset for a current street price of around 160 euros, which is specifically aimed at streamers and hardcore gamers who place particular value on wearing comfort and sound quality and who also have a clever headphone amplifier. In return for a decent drive, the headset offers an open design that ensures pleasant ventilation and remains extremely comfortable during long periods of use. It is also equipped with user-friendly, replaceable ear pads and an internal headband. I would like to put this first, because sustainability is very important.
Scope of delivery
You get the headset, a pure stereo cable and another cable, which also has a microphone and mute button on the left headphone plug. There is also an adapter from TRSS to two jacks for audio and microphone. The box is designed as a real box, which is not typical for Corsair, and a hard case is a nice bonus. That’s enough as an accessory list, there’s no more for a (still) extra charge.
What is (still) missing is a balanced cable. I had some fun and provisionally connected one of my own, which takes the drivers into completely different spheres (always assuming a suitable amp). In response to my specific question to Corsair, I received the astonishing answer that they had already planned this and that such a cable would soon be available. Ok, either they can suddenly read minds, or I wasn’t the first to ask. The part is already quite powerful as it is, but there’s really more to it!
If I can find another original, I will of course report on it. And what else? The hinge mechanism is a joy to hold and turn and yes, you can lay it flat in the hard case. Or on the desk, or… But we still have the next chapter for that, when it comes to unpacking, touching and putting it on.
Technical data
Now you can certainly write yourself silly about the technical data, but I’ll conveniently let the original from the website speak for itself. So, after so many prefaces, let’s finally get to the manufacturer’s technical specifications:
