Summary and conclusion
For an ITX case, the NCORE 100 Max was pleasantly easy to assemble a powerful system. The open structure and well thought-out design contribute significantly to this. It’s really practical when the power supply unit comes with the case and can offer precisely adapted cable lengths. Although I even used 3x 6 2 pin cables for the graphics card and not the included 12VHPWR right-angle plug, the cable management required only minimal effort .Depending on what kind of display cable and how many you connect, it could get a little tight on the bottom of the case. I was able to bend my slightly rigid cable into place in the available free space, but this special feature of the horizontal design with connections facing downwards should be kept in mind.
I am quite satisfied with the temperatures in direct comparison to the open structure without housing. Initially, I assumed that Cooler Master would simply install a 120mm AiO from the existing range, but you actually get a customized model with a stronger fan and 38mm thick radiator!
So let’s talk about the price, which initially falls at the recommended retail price of €399.99. Absolutely no bargain, but let’s take a look at the context in the ITX case niche. With the Corsair 2000D case, you get a similar design, but for currently around €120, you only get one case. The Hyte Revolt 3 also offers a comparable concept for €250 and comes with a 700 watt power supply, although it does not have 80 certification. The price of the formerly very popular NZXT H1 is around €350, and the configuration with AiO and 750 watt power supply is very similar to the Ncore 100 Max.
If you deductthe current price of the V850 SFX Gold 850W power supply, you’re left with around €230 for the case, customized power cables, PCIe 4.0 riser, case fan and special AiO with extra-thick radiator. I find this reasonable in view of the usual market pricing for products with rather low quantities and the overall high-quality workmanship of the Ncore 100 Max. Experience has shown that the price will drop again after release, so the only thing that really bothers me is the rather short warranty period. Although the power supply unit has a 10-year warranty, the AiO water cooler only has a 2-year warranty. It doesn’t seem to be possible to buy it separately, so in the event of a defect after this period, you would probably have to do without the benefits of the thick radiator. All in all, this is still a good offer for ITX enthusiasts.
The test sample was provided by Cooler Master without obligation. There was and is no influence on the tests and results. There was also no compensation for expenses and no obligation to publish.
